Help shape the future of online responsibility.

The online world is changing fast. Expectations around safety, trust, transparency and accountability are growing, and organisations everywhere are facing new challenges in how they protect users and build confidence in their digital services.

At the Online Responsibility Network (ORN), we're on a mission to help make the online world a safer, more responsible place. And we're looking for someone to help us make it happen. ORN is an ambitious, growing international initiative bringing together organisations from across the digital ecosystem to share knowledge, champion good practice and drive meaningful improvements in online responsibility, with members able to demonstrate their commitment to users and consumers through the ORN trust mark.

We're building something exciting: a collaborative network that brings industry, experts and stakeholders together to move beyond simply meeting regulatory requirements and towards demonstrating genuine commitment to trust, safety and accountability to their users and consumers.

As we move into the next stage of our journey, we're looking for a Regulatory and Assurance Manager to play an important role in shaping our work, strengthening our approach and helping us turn ambitious ideas into real-world impact.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands the challenges facing the digital world, enjoys working with people and wants to help build something with genuine purpose.

You'll be joining at a pivotal time, with the opportunity to influence how ORN develops, contribute to new initiatives, build relationships across the industry and help establish ORN as a recognised voice in online trust and safety.

What You’ll Be Doing:

No two days will look quite the same. You'll work across a broad range of activities, combining regulatory and assurance expertise with strategic thinking, product innovation, practical delivery and collaboration.

Shape and strengthen our assurance approach:

Support the ongoing development and evolution of ORN's proprietary multi-jurisdictional Assurance Framework and wider standards, ensuring they remain credible, robust and relevant to emerging regulatory expectations and industry good practice.

Help develop and deliver new initiatives:

Contribute to the design, development and delivery of ORN's assurance and assessment activities, working with colleagues and external partners to support quality, consistency and continuous improvement.

Keep ahead of regulatory and industry developments:

Undertake horizon scanning to monitor and interpret developments in online safety regulation, policy and trust and safety practice across the UK, Europe and internationally. Support the Senior Manger to identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities, translating complex developments into meaningful insights for ORN and its members.

Build relationships and collaborate across the industry:

Work with member organisations, assessment partners, industry experts and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, support assurance activities and encourage positive change.

Help grow ORN's voice and influence:

Support the SLT in preparing for media opportunities, contribute to thought leadership, regulatory insights, industry briefings and knowledge resources,  helping ORN and its members navigate a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Champion quality and continuous improvement:

Support the effective delivery of assurance activities, helping maintain high standards, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure ORN's approach remains practical, proportionate and credible.

Be part of ORN's growth journey:

Work closely with the wider team to explore new opportunities, contribute to strategic priorities and help shape the future direction of an ambitious and evolving network.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

  • We're looking for someone who's passionate about improving online trust and safety and excited by the opportunity to help shape a growing initiative.

  • You'll have a strong understanding of the online safety landscape, including the regulatory expectations facing digital organisations and the role that assurance and good practice can play in driving meaningful improvement.

  • You'll be confident interpreting complex information, applying sound judgement and turning regulatory or technical challenges into practical, accessible solutions.

  • Just as importantly, you'll enjoy working with people, building relationships and contributing to new ideas. You'll be comfortable balancing the bigger picture with the detail needed to deliver high-quality work.

  • Above all, you'll bring curiosity, initiative and enthusiasm for making a positive difference.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant experience in trust and safety, online safety regulation, digital policy, assurance, risk, compliance or a related field.

  • Good working knowledge of the UK Online Safety Act and EU Digital Services Act, alongside an awareness of wider international online safety developments.

  • Understanding of assurance principles, standards, risk management or assessment approaches, and how these support accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret regulatory requirements, evaluate information and translate complex issues into practical recommendations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage both specialist and non-specialist audiences.

  • Experience managing multiple workstreams, collaborating with external stakeholders and taking ownership of projects or deliverables.

  • Sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to balance regulatory expectations with practical industry considerations.

  • A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach, with genuine enthusiasm for online trust and safety.

  • Highly self-motivated and forward-thinking, with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to anticipate emerging needs, identify opportunities and drive work forward proactively, without waiting for direction.

Why join ORN?

Because this is an opportunity to be part of something from the early stages and help shape what it becomes.

ORN is at an exciting point in its journey. With strong foundations, ambitious plans and a growing community of organisations committed to positive change, we're working to build something that can make a lasting difference to how online responsibility is understood, demonstrated and improved.

Joining us means you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Make a genuine impact: Contribute to work that helps improve trust, safety and accountability across the online world.

  • Help shape something new: Bring your expertise, ideas and creativity to a growing initiative where your contribution can make a real difference.

  • Work across an evolving international landscape: Engage with regulatory developments, emerging industry challenges and organisations working to improve online responsibility.

  • Enjoy variety and ownership: Get involved in a broad mix of activities, from assurance and regulatory insight to collaboration, innovation and strategic development.

  • Grow with us: Develop your expertise, expand your industry connections and play an important role as ORN continues to evolve.
